Just a slight tweak on my custom phaser.
This one hides whichever tip isn't in use.
To do so, the whole piece pops forward, spins, then pops back in.

I always did like the phaser pistol from the new Star Trek movie. Especially pleased that only have two settings. Stun and kill. You do a fine job of designing the weapon. I wonder what the phaser rifle is going to be like.

I have a couple sketches laying around, sort of a cross between the pistol and a FAMAS, with 3 whitish glowing cylinders in the middle. Need to make it on the computer one of these days.

Any clue why they decided to use that flipping tip and what it is for?

blue is stun, red is kill.
I'd guess that the blue tip is a focusing mechanism whereas the red is an amplification mechanism. That way, you could still dial in the power setting on the top, without being concerned about going from heavy stun to kill without noticing.

Thanks, I'm rather proud of it actually. Looks more like TOS as well as more practical.
Should I do the tricorder or communicator next?
