I have been kicking myself on and off about trying to redo the rotation sequence. Decided that today, I'm just gonna go ahead and do it. Also decided that, while I was at it, I'd reset a few other things as well. Windows and paneling still suck, but at least I got them recessed. Enjoy.
Anyway, it's in the comic now, and yes, I know my first flub at doing a fade effect is horrible, but at the time I was still messing with it. A somewhat better flub will be in next months comic. Here's the link. [link]
Nice, expect me to bookmark your comic! And a suggestion about GIMP (I use it as well) When you want something to fade, put it by itself on a higher layer and simply lower the alpha (it's that bar at the top)
I never bothered trying to figure out how layering works. I ended up using GIMP for place the two copies of the sprite (one with the flash, one without) under softglow, copied them, repeated, then went to PAINT.net and used surface blur and washed them out, then went to MSPaint to erase the faded suroundings. Lengthy, yes. Within my abilities, yes. Does it match the original fade script, not on your life but it's better than me chucking my monitor trying to deal with layers.
That's alright, I usually find a way around problems like that, even if it's something no-one else wants to mess with. Besides, the flub effects are better than me trying the layering trick. That, and surface blur works better than gausian blur.
Those are actually quite nice. Though, I think they should be a tad smaller. Because technically the height that it is seen from straight on should be half way between the highest and lowest point of the same line at the angled version. If you know what I mean...
I think I see what he's saying. The corner sprites look closer to the "camera" than the original side sprites. The corner should be lined up with the edge of the side view sprites. If that makes any sense.
Well, since I was using ShadowWingTronix's sprites as a base, you basically have to blame him for it, since all the dimensions came off of that. Also, you guys are gonna hate me. I downloaded The Eleventh Hour from Veoh and saw the new exterior look, with the white trimmed windows and the St. John sticker like the first TARDIS, so I added those in, though I had to recolor the panes so they didn't bleed into the windowframes.
There's not much to improve, except maybe remembering to save the sheet as a PNG instead of a JPEG (AH, IT BURNS!). Other than that, any chance I can talk you into doing the other sides and some corners to show rotation while traveling?
